Mary Lou Rooney Obituary

Mary Lou (Rees) Rooney, 51, of Springfield, died at 9:06 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at St. John's Hospital.

She leaves behind her mother, Barbara (Welle) Rees of Springfield; three sons, Ryan Johnson of Springfield, SN. Michael Rooney at New London Naval Base in Groton, CT, and Colton Rees of Springfield; two grandchildren, Paige Elise and Julena Rose Johnson both of Springfield; brother, Eric Rees of Springfield; grandmother, Mary Welle of Springfield; one uncle and several cousins.

Mary Lou was born in Springfield on March 13, 1962, the son of Ronald Gene and Barbara Welle Rees. She was preceded in death by her father.

She graduated from Chatham Glenwood High School and after graduation she spent many years working with society horses and shows as a groom and trainer.

Memorial Gathering & Funeral Mass: The family will be hosting a memorial gathering from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield, with Rev. Steven Janoski celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
