Robert "Pip" Pipkin, 51, of Springfield, passed away at 11:03 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Pip was born on February 23, 1964 in Springfield, the son of Murray and Marcella Schafer Pipkin. He married Teri Larson on May 28, 2011 in Mechanicsburg.
Pip could easily be described as a man with a heart of gold. His generosity and selflessness was apparent to everyone who knew him. Not only was he genuinely kind and caring, he had a fun-loving spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. When he wasn't working, you could find him at his favorite fishing hole, shooting a game of pool, or playing shuffleboard, laughing and enjoying life with his family or friends while listening to his favorite band, the Grateful Dead. Pip also very much enjoyed walking his beloved dog, "Budro" Pipkin.
Pip was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Teri Pipkin; daughter, Sunnie Pipkin; stepchildren, Ben and Danielle Larson; three step-grandchildren; seven siblings, Mary Goldstein (husband, Tony), William (wife, Chris) Pipkin, Louise (husband, Rick) Kaufmann, Katherine (husband, Greg) Kaufmann, James (wife, Sue) Pipkin, Thomas (wife, Bonnie) Pipkin, and Barbara Pipkin; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his beloved dog, "Budro" Pipkin.
Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
Memorial Gathering and Memorial Mass: The family will host a Memorial Gathering from 10:00 a.m. until the Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant.

It will be 6 yrs on Sun, May 2nd since I've seen you my love...I miss you so very much. It will be a year since Budro left me to go hang out with you, Ed, Wink & Jerry...I miss all 4 of you guys & Budro...hope you're catching lots of fish & not a bunch of seaweed..That's still my favorite picture of you my love...6 yrs has been like forever....

Speaking as an old old neighbor and family friend, I remember Robert as the youngest member of the brood, and someone who had to deal with challenges from his 3 older brothers, regularly. So glad to hear that he rose to the occasion with a keen sense of humor. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. May you celebrate his life in style, music and all!

My prayers go out to the Pipkin family. I was a second cousin to Robert but also grew up with him in the Blessed Sacrament area and have fond memories of him. He had a heart of gold a could joke around with the best of them. God bless from the Schafer family
