Tribute & Message From The Family
Deanna Maye Milner, 77, formerly of Chatham, died on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Vondelieth Living Center.
Deanna was born May 25, 1938 in Springfield, the daughter of David and Cleo Cowman Simpson.
She was a graduate of Chatham Glenwood High School and worked in banking as a young adult. In the 70s and 80s, she partnered with her husband, Al, helping manage Milner Electric, and in the 80s and 90s, she worked as a CNA in long term care. She had great compassion for the elderly she cared for. She belonged to the Chatham Sr. Center, and enjoyed bowling, pool, darts, and multiple crafts.
Deanna was a wonderful daughter, mother and grandmother. She took care of her parents until they passed, and spent much time caring for her grandchildren.
She was a member of Grace Southern Baptist Church in Virden, IL until moving to Michigan with her daughter in 2011 due to Alzheimer's disease. In Michigan, she became a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Jackson. Deanna was a shining example of showing the love of Jesus to others through her actions.
She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Allen Milner; and one brother, Donald Simpson, Sr.
She is survived by one son, Mark (wife, Julie) Milner of Auburn; one daughter, Susan Milner (companion, Mark Moughan) of Elkhart; five grandchildren, Scott, Michelle, Matt, Nick and Kyle; one aunt; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her spoiled dog, Scooter.
Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: The family will host a memorial gathering on Monday, October, 26, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until the ceremony at 1:30 p.m. at the Chatham VFW Post 6892, 501 W. Mulberry St., Chatham.
