I'd just like to say thank you to grandpa for letting me be the one to take care of you for the last year and a half. I made that promise when I was little and I have gotten the chance to make good on that promise. We had a lot of hard times, but we got to make many memories, just him and I and I will always be grateful that I got to make those memories. I love you Poppo and miss you dearly. Getting up each day reminds me that you're no longer here because I'm not rushing to get to you, but I will ALWAYS cherish and honor you. Love Toni Jo

Joe and Gloria - So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. It is really difficult to lose a parent and we know you will miss him. Didn't realize how much Mark looked like your dad as shown in the picture when he was a young service man. Just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you and hope to see you at our next class reunion. God bless and take care.

Bob and Joe had such good times beating each other playing cribbage. We really missed seeing Joe and Joan these last few years as we had some very nice times with them. Joe will be missed but he is no longer suffering and is with God. We only wish we had met the two of them long before we did.

I am so sorry to hear about Papa Joe. I used to love going up to the campground at New Salem to hang out and listen to his stories. He would take me for rides on his golf cart. He also took me fishing from time to time. He had such a great spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Uncle Joe....oh the memories....the DAV club when you would call Bingo and I would be helping mom in the kitchen; the many events at the DAV that we all attended together; camping at NSPOA; you and Aunt Joan coming to mom and dads house hanging out; me staying at your house in T'ville many many years ago; but the most vivid memory is when I was running through the house (I was about 8 or 9 years old) and I tripped over your crutches, fell on the front floor and chipped my front tooth. We always had a good time with you and you was a "great" uncle and a pleasure to have in our lives. We will miss you. RIP

We will always remember Joe's smile, warm heart, wit and great sense of humor.

A few years ago, I saw a picture of Joe and Senator Durbin in the newspaper. I called Joe pretending to be from Durbin's office, referred to the photo in the paper and began soliciting a donation for the Senator's campaign. When Joe finally realized it was me we both laughed until we cried.

We love Joe and will miss you
