Thomas L. Gibson, 69, of Litchfield, IL, passed away at 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield with his family at his side.
Born in De Moines, IA on March 22, 1942, he was the son of Thomas and Dortha (Lewis) Gibson. He met and married Donna K. Durbin in 1963 in Phoenix, AZ, which ended in divorce. He married Laura Sagrido in 1996 in Pasadena, TX, which ended in divorce.
He worked as a journeyman diesel mechanic and worked for Pepsi in Pasadena, TX for many years. He is a member of the Moose Lodge 1634.
He enjoyed fishing and motorcycle riding and his favorite pastime was spending time with his family.
Surviving are sons, Thomas L. Gibson, Jr., Richard D. Gibson and wife Shelly, and Steven J. Gibson, all of Litchfield, Brandon Gibson and wife Rachelle of Canada, and Tristan Gibson of Alton; daughters, Sherry Estell and husband David, Stephanie Pieper and husband Jason, all of Irving, and Samantha Gibson of Edwardsville, his grandchildren, Debbie, Nicole, Jessica, Kari, David II, Thomas III, Alexis, Andrew, Jacob, Ricky, Trevor, Kiersten, Kristan, Tyler, Sierra, Alyssa, Hannah, Steven Jr. and Matthew; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sisters, Judy Swope of St. Joseph, MO and Geraldine Caslo of Houston, TX; and his brother, Carl Gibson and wife Donna of Deer Park, TX.
Preceding him in death were his father, Pastor Thomas Lee Gibson and mother, Dortha Lewis; and a daughter, Deborah Gibson.
Per his wishes, his remains were cremated. Services for Thomas L. Gibson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Olive, 410 W. 3rd North St., Mt. Olive, IL. Pastor Gary Schwab will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.

Dad... I wish things didnt turn out this way. Didn't get the chance to say an ending because the strike and regret but I truly miss you. There is so much left to do and with you gone there is a void in my life I have to refill with sorrow. I hope to see you and I wish this was all a dream. I love you dad...

Grandpa its still so hard to believe that your gone. We all love and miss you a lot. It seems like just yesterday we were over at your house cooking out on the grill and swimming in your pool. But like everyone else says, this isnt good bye, its see you later. Until then Ill just listen to my dad tell stories about ya and remember all the good memories we all had together. We love and miss you Grandpa Tom, p.s. Lulu loves being inside and even likes the kids. We will take good care of her.
