Kenneth A. Bunchman, 87, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2012 at St. John's Hospice.

Ken was born December 3, 1924 in Springfield, the son of Harry and Helen Rittenbacker Bunchman. He was a member of the Army Air Corps in WWII, serving in the South Pacific. He attended the University of Illinois and earned two master's degrees from Sangamon State University. He was proud of his life's work in agriculture. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

Ken was a world traveler, traveling to over 60 countries on six continents. He passed on his love for meeting people and learning about the world to his children and grandchildren. He belonged to Mensa and the World Affairs Council. He enjoyed discussing new ideas and giving back to the community. He liked hunting and fishing and on most Tuesdays could be found eating fire brand chili at Joe Rogers' Chili Parlor with his friends.

Ken is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Don (Marcia) of Springfield, Tom (Kathleen) of Annapolis, MD, and Lynn (Todd) Huttenlocher of Mercer Island, WA; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Merle Nickels; his parents; brother, Harry J. Bunchman; and sister, Joan Sherry.

Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
