Tribute & Message From The Family

Michael (Myke) Andrew Turpin, 23, of Springfield, went to be with God at 4:27 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the company of his family.

Myke was born September 9, 1990 in Springfield, the son of Robert and Vickie Turpin.

Myke attended grade school at North Elementary School in Taylorville, IL. He attended the first two years of high school at Taylorville High School and graduated from Riverton High School in 2009. He was a self-proclaimed professional videogamer. Despite his many challenges with his battle of muscular dystrophy, he was very upbeat and quite the joker. He always had his way of brightening up the room and was a master at bringing a smile to the face of everyone around him.

He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Bob and Karin Turpin.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Vickie Turpin of Springfield; two brothers, Jimmy Turpin of Riverton and Daniel Turpin of Springfield; two sisters, Kaitie (Logan) French of 29 Palms, CA and Tiffany Turpin of Springfield; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Muscular Dystrophy Association, 115 Neil St., Suite 100, Champaign, IL 61820.

Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.

I'am truly very sorry for your lost. Myke and me went to school to Taylorville jr. high and Taylorville high school together and we were such great friends. We went from being friends to dating and back friends and there wasn't one time that I never had a bad day with him around and he always made my day. He will be truly missed in my heart and my families heart as well and he was such a great friend and I will miss him so much. I love myke like a brother and I am truly heart broken that he is gone and everyday I will think of him and all the good times we have had. again I truly sorry for your lost and he will be deeply missed in my heart and my families as well.

If tears could build a stairwell and memories were a lane, I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again. No farewell words were spoken no time to say good-bye . You were gone before I knew it, and only God knows why. My heart still aches in sadness, and secret tears still flow. What it means to lose you, no one will ever know.

Bob and Sam,
You were great parents, Myke is now walking to the fishing hole with his grandpa. Bob and Karin were proud of all of their kids and grandkids. Myke will be missed here but will never be forgotten. Take comfort in the fact that he is still with family and being taken care of. You know where we are if you need anything. With love and sympathy

I remember Myke in my 3rd grade class at North School. It was with a heavy heart that I suspected his affliction with MD. I remember his impish grin and his kindness toward others. I will continue to donate to the muscular dystrophy association in memory of him.

Mike had such a great laugh. All these years later I can still hear him. Am now retired and in Florida but still want to keep up with what is happening to people like Mike who blessed my life. - pastor bob
