Doris Laing, 74, of Union, MO, passed away at 12:50 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Mercy Hospital.

Doris was born on August 28, 1940 in Springfield, the daughter of Wesley and Dora Mayes Hayes. She married Robert J. Laing on January 10, 1975 in Springfield, IL.

Doris was a CNA for 30 years. She enjoyed crafts and was known for being a compassionate person.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Kenneth and Raymond Sidener, Jr; one daughter, Verna Hurst; two sisters, Kathy Brockman and Leonna Hendrick; and one sister-in-law, Dorann Hayes.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Laing of Union, MO; one daughter, Joann (husband, Donny) James of Alton; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Vernon Hayes, and Larry (wife, Karen) Hayes, both of Springfield, and Sue (husband, John) Mont and Sandy Murphy, both of Girard.

Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
