Robert John Charneski, 62, of Springfield, died at 7:48 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at St. John's Hospital.

Robert was born November 8, 1949 in Decatur, the son of William and Charlotte Frese Charneski.

Robert proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy and retired in 2011 from Geene & Bradford as a CAD designer. He was a member of the T.R.N. Club. Robert's family was the most important thing to him, but he also enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping, canoeing, shooting at the range and flying kites.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his companion, Denise Laws of Springfield; son, Andrew R. Charneski of Bremerton, WA; daughter, Corinne Sullivan of Chicago; grandchildren, Sierra Sample of Chicago, Liam Smirnov of Chicago, Plato and Dante Charneski, both of WA; two brothers, Bill Charneski of Long Beach, CA and Mark (wife, Cathy) Charneski of LaBelle, FL; one aunt, one niece and several cousins.

Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
