Sheri L. Cockrum, 46, of Springfield, died at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center.

Sheri was born August 24, 1966 in Gainesville, GA, the daughter of Darrel Eugene and Mary Lou Arnold Cockrum.

After graduating from Quincy High School in 1984, Sheri moved to Sarasota, FL. She worked as an Office Administrator for a chiropractor office. While in Sarasota, Sheri loved the beach and being out in the sun. In 1991, Sheri moved to Springfield, IL where she was an Office Administrator for a Dr's office. She held various jobs, with the latest being an Accounts Payable administrator at Simplex, Inc. where she often baked for her co-workers. Sheri enjoyed spending time with her dear friends and listening to country music. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed taking walks with her beloved dog Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her maternal uncle, John Craig Arnold; maternal grandfather, John Arnold; and paternal grandparents, Darrell LeRoy and Marjorie Klocke Cockrum.

She is survived by her parents, D. Eugene "Gene" and Mary Lou Cockrum of Mendon; maternal grandmother, Noranne King of Quincy; sister, Gina L. Cockrum of Tampa, FL; brother, Warren Shane Cockrum of Quincy; aunt and uncle, Sue and Doug Clarke of Springfield; first cousin Chad (Kim) Clarke of Marietta, GA; first cousin JC (Angie) Clarke of Rochester, IL; two great-aunts, Sandra Miller of Tucson, AZ and Dorothy Mahla of Quincy; two great-uncles, William (Pat) Binger of Quincy and Frank (Lydia) Klocke of Leonard, MO; and several cousins.

The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and techs on the 2nd Floor Oncology Dept at Memorial Medical Center who kept Sheri and family as comfortable as possible. They are true angels.
Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.

The family will host a celebration of Sheri's life at Central Baptist Church, 7th and Broadway in Quincy, IL on Tuesday, June 11 from 11:30am – 12:30pm. Service and luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheri's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or Humane Society.
