Walter "Tic" Lamsargis, 98, of Springfield, passed away at 6:37 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Heritage Health in Mt. Sterling.

Walter was born on October 9, 1916 in Springfield, the son of Thadius and Lavakadia Sterbis Lamsargis. He married Marcella Mae Henson in 1940, in Palmyra, MO; she preceded him in death on February 19, 2002.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Dan Lamsargis; and two brothers, Charles and Thaddeus Lamsargis.

He served his country in the Navy during WWII. While serving in the military, and a few years after, he was a championship Golden Gloves boxer. Tic worked for Peabody Coal Company for many years and retired from there. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and POLKA dancing with his wife Marcella.

He is survived by two grandsons, Matt Lamsargis and Tom (wife, Crystal) Lamsargis, both of Springfield; and three great-grandchildren, Anna, Ian and Mason.

Per his wishes, he was donated to science.
